With Facebook being the most popular platform, you may be thinking that it’s best to just focus on making content on this site, but this shouldn’t always be the case. 

While the top two platforms, Facebook and YouTube, can help you reach the most number of people, the question is – are they your target audience?

Before anything else, you first need to know where your potential customers are. What’s the point of having the best content if it can’t be seen by your prospects? 

Like how more than half of the Instagram user population is younger than 34 years old, it can be a great channel for promoting clothes, makeups, gadgets, and accessories – but not ideal if you’re promoting online educational courses. 

Interestingly, a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center shows how the usage of major social media platforms varies by several factors including age, gender, and educational attainment. These demographic statistics can help you have an idea of what site you can use to grow your brand’s social media presence.

While it’s important to create your brand’s page in the most popular social media platforms, it’s always worth focusing on one site at a time. You can first prioritize a channel where you think most of your target customers are and gradually expand your social network. 

 

Tip # 2. Create High-Quality Content

If you already have an idea of what platforms to use, the next step should be creating high-quality content. It’s important to be consistent when providing social media posts – everything should be relevant to what you’re selling.

If you use Facebook, you can create infographics or upload videos that are tailored to what your brand offers. For Instagram, a better approach would be to customize your feed with your brand’s color schemes or create stories that can help people know how your company can bring value to them.

With hundreds of social media posts every day, what unique content can you make to capture the attention of your prospects? Are there any eye-catching visuals involved? Or maybe, do you plan to post relatable content and go with the trend? Whatever strategy you choose, just make sure that they are all consistent and relevant! If your product is women’s clothing and you want your brand to represent elegance, what words will you use? It’s not really appropriate to use slang words for your content, right?

After you know what personality your brand can be identified with, you now have an idea of how to create content that can help your audience know what your product or service represents.

Now that you have quality content ready to be shared, it can be quite tempting to post all of them at once. You can’t wait to let your audience see what your brand really is, but it’s really not helpful if you suddenly dump all your content at once!

Again, one of the key factors in growing your social media presence is consistency! How often should you post? Do you have time to create content? If so, when do you plan to share them? 

While most people have social media accounts, they don’t hang out online as often as you think! It’s essential for you to know their ‘active peak hours’ and you can do these by observing the behavior of your audience.

Just like how it isn’t recommended to post every hour, it’s also not great for your brand if you can only provide the content every two months or so. Imagine if a potential customer checks your business on social media sites and sees that you haven’t posted or replied to inquiries for almost a month – makes your brand look unreliable, right?
